Kvasar dream-mask operating manual version 1.0 2002-08-14 This is the operating manual for the kvasar dream-mask. When you first turn the Kvasar on it will beep and flash the LEDs, three times quickly, then it will await an input from you during ten seconds, after wich it will go into standby-mode. It will still react to button-presses, but it might take a couple of seconds since the processor is in sleep mode. Just keep the button depressed and it will react when you LET GO of the button. When the mask displays number on the LEDs, it will first flash the right LED (when you are wearing the mask) for number of single units, the the left LED for number of tens. The mask will keep it's setting even if you remove the batteries as the settings are stored in EEPROM. The first time you use the mask after programming the PIC, you should go through all the settings and adjust them to your liking since the values aren't set when programming the PIC. Calibration should be done every time the mask is used to compensate for different battery Voltage. Procedure for calibration is: 1. Put mask on in comfortable position 2. Go into calibration mode, press buttons: B: One beep, now in ADJUSTMENT MODE B, left LED lighted 3. Close your eyes. More light is reflected when your eyes are closed (from the eye-lid). This means that when your eyes start to move, a difference in reflected light will be detected 4. Press button: A: Left LED will turn off and the calibration procedure will begin. 5. When the calibration is complete, you will hear 2 beeps. 6. Press button C to exit the adjustment mode You can now test if the calibration was succesfull by using the test-mode, se below for details. If the calibration doesn't work your batteries might be bad, try changing them. How the buttons work, remember that the mask reacts when you RELEASE the button: (from standby-mode) Button C, does a reality test and increase the time until scanning starts with 10 minutes Button A, press once(one beep), sets time to scan is started to 0 minutes, also displays number of signals given and resets number of signals: (now in ADJUSTMENT MODE A, Right LED is lighted) Button B Dream-alarm on(two beeps) off(one beep) Button A, press once(two beeps): Button B Time to new scan after a signal has been given, 5-10-15 minuters(shows on LEDs) Button A, press once(three beeps): Button B Time to new scan when no eye-movements were detected, 0 to 10 minuters(shows on LEDs) Button A, press once(four beeps): Button B Signal treshold(number of eye-movements detected during scan for signal to be given), 0-10(shows on led) Button A, press once(five beeps): Button B Sound with the light-signal on(two beeps) off(one beep) Button A, back to dream alarm on/off(one beep) Button C, exits back to standby at any time Button B, press once(one beep), sets time to scan is started to 0 minutes, also displays number of signals given and resets number of signals: (now in ADJUSTMENT MODE B, left LED lighted) Button A Calibrate, one beep when finished Button B, press once(two beeps): Button A Do test during one scan-period and display result on LEDs Button B, press once(three beeps): Button A Signal-intensity, 1 to 10(shows in LEDs) Button B, press once(four beeps): Button A Interval between flashes during signal, 3-6-9 seconds(shows on LEDs) Button B, press once(five beeps): Button A Number of flashes during signal, 3-6-9-12-15(shows on LEDs) Button B, back to calibrate(one beep) Button C, exits back to standby at any time
